Two Jamaican Police Officers Killed: What Was Said About Sligoville?
Two Jamaican police officers died after an operation in Sligoville, St. Catherine, on October 16, 2026. The tragedy has prompted grief, questions about what happened, and debate about reactions to the officers' deaths.

Listen to the recording and examine what was said
In the video below, former detective Chris Porter responds to a recording attributed to a woman referred to as 'Mrs. Ogly.' Around 12 minutes and 34 seconds into the presentation, she says she does not feel sorry when police officers are killed. She also makes allegations about police violence against civilians. Those allegations should be evaluated on evidence.
Her apparent lack of sympathy can fairly be criticized, but the recording alone does not establish that she knew the two officers personally or was involved in any wrongdoing. The question of whether her statements amount to celebrating these particular deaths is an interpretation viewers should assess in context.
Remembering Corporal Shaw and Constable Rose
Corporal Trevoy Shaw died on October 16. Constable Devoney Rose died from his injuries the following day. Their families and colleagues deserve compassion. Public disagreement about policing should never erase the humanity of people who lose their lives.

The law must apply to everyone
INDECOM is investigating the operation, during which three civilian men were also killed and other people, including minors, were injured. The circumstances of every death and injury deserve independent scrutiny. Supporting the police and asking whether officers acted lawfully are compatible positions.

A message to viewers
The answer to difficult speech is evidence, compassion and peaceful debate, not threats or harassment. View the complete presentation, consider the words in context, and remember the officers and their bereaved families. We can criticize insensitivity, demand accountability and still respect everyone's rights.
